Dear Students and Families,
As we prepare for the start of this upcoming school year, I recognize that we may all feel mixed emotions. I, myself, am excited, nervous, and hopeful. I am also filled with gratitude for our entire school community and cannot wait to meet our returning and new students on September 13th.

Back to School Virtual Town Hall via Zoom: Please join us for a virtual back to school meeting on Wednesday, 8/25 at 6:30PM via Zoom. We will review the most updated information regarding school reopening. You can sign up here for the meeting. Translation will be available in Spanish and Mandarin.
The First Day of School, Bell Schedule, and Programs: Students report for their first day of classes on Monday, September 13, 2021. Period 1 begins at 8AM, and our doors will open at 7:50AM. Student programs will be available on September 9th. The full bell schedule can be found here on our school website. Please note we will spend the first hours on the first day of school orienting our students to the new school year.
Mask Mandate and Vaccination: Regardless of vaccination status, everyone must wear a mask in school per NYC Department of Education guidelines. Masks should cover the nose and mouth snugly and comfortably. We will have masks available should anyone need one, but we are encouraging students to wear masks that they have already tried and fitted. While vaccination is not required to attend NYC public schools, we and the NYCDOE are strongly encouraging COVID-19 vaccination for anyone over the age of 12. Metrocard, Uniform, and Device Pick-Up: Students can pick up metrocards, uniforms, and computing devices on: Thursday-Friday, 9/9-9/10, 1-2:30PM. Should metrocards not be delivered in time, we will distribute these to students the week of September 13th. New students will receive one free uniform t-shirt. Additional t-shirts are $12, and hoodies are $28. Students must wear QHSLS t-shirts or hoodies to help faculty identify our students on our campus. Should purchasing uniforms be a hardship, please email us at info@qhsls.org.
Computers and School Supplies: This school year, it is important that all students have wifi and a computer with a keyboard at home. If you need to request a computer or a WIFI hotspot, please use this Google Form. Please note that students should not bring computers to and from school. In addition, please plan on having the following supplies:
- loose leaf paper (2 reams)
- graph paper (1 ream of loose leaf or 1 notebook)
- 1 strong binder (2” or larger) for class handouts
- binder tabs for organization (8 tabs)
- at least one folder for homework assignments
- pens (at least two different colors for annotation)
- pencils and erasers
- small, personal hand sanitizer
- reusable water bottle
School Email Accounts: New students now have a school Gmail account. Please see the Class of 2025 webpage on the school’s website for how to access your email account.
