Transition to 100% Remote Learning for All Students

Dear QHSLS Students and Families,

As of 2:30PM today, the Chancellor has announced that the entire NYC school system will be moving to 100% Remote Learning for 100% of students beginning tomorrow, November 19, 2020. Blended Learning students should plan to learn from home and will no longer report to school until further notice.

This transition is temporary. The DOE will continue to monitor infection rates and will determine a re-opening date when the infection rate once again falls below 3%.

A few important notes for the QHSLS community:

  • We are prepared for this transition. Students should continue to attend their crew meetings tomorrow morning at 8:30AM. As a reminder, subject area teachers will now be posting asynchronous assignments and offering office hours instead of HUM/STEAM block lessons. Students should refer to the sample schedules here.
  • Tonight is our November PTA meeting at 6:30PM via Zoom. We encourage all families to attend. I will be there to provide updates and answer questions. The link will be sent out to all students and families 10 minutes before the meeting.
  • Devices are still available. If you need to pick up a computer or iPad, we can still accommodate you. Please send us an email at info@qhsls.org.

As infection rates rise across the city, please remember to keep you and your families safe by maintaining precautionary measures: wear a mask, socially distance, and wash your hands frequently.

Communication continues to be key as we get through this difficult time as a school community. Do not hesitate to contact us with questions. We are in this together, always.

Sincerely, Melanie Lee, Principal
